The RoCE Product Directory complements the RoCE Initiative’s ever-expanding technical resource library

BEAVERTON, OR – May 24, 2017 – The RoCE Initiative, an education and resource program of the InfiniBand Trade Association (IBTA), today announced the availability of the RoCE Product Directory. The new online resource is intended to inform CIOs and enterprise data center architects about their options for deploying RDMA over Converged Ethernet (RoCE) technology within their Ethernet infrastructure.

The RoCE Product Directory is comprised of a growing catalogue of RoCE-enabled solutions provided by members of the IBTA. The directory allows users to search by product type and/or brand, connecting them directly to each item’s specific product page. The online directory currently contains RoCE capable Adapter Cards and LAN on Motherboard Application Specific ICs (LOM ASIC).

“Broadcom is excited about the IBTA’s launch of the RoCE Product Directory and is proud to have Broadcom’s RoCE-enabled NetXtreme E-Series Ethernet adapters featured,” said Robert Lusinsky, Broadcom Director of Marketing and InfiniBand Trade Association Marketing Working Group co-chair.  “Our 10/25/50/100GbE NetXtreme E-Series adapters integrate advanced congestion control algorithms that enable high performance RoCE deployments for applications such as machine learning and NVMe-oF, and the IBTA’s RoCE Product Directory will be a valuable resource for customers.”

“Cavium is a member of IBTA, a supporter of the RoCE Initiative and proud to be listed in the RoCE product directory,” said Christopher Moezzi, Vice President of Marketing, Ethernet Adapter Group, Cavium, Inc. “Cavium FastLinQ® 10/25/50/100GbE NICs with Universal RDMA deliver groundbreaking performance combined with the intelligence and offload capabilities that enable enterprise, cloud and Telco platforms to deliver exceptional levels of service and application processing, while offloading packet I/O.”

“As a longtime member of the IBTA and pioneer of RoCE technology, Mellanox is proud to participate in the RoCE Initiative’s product directory,” said Kevin Deierling, Vice President of Marketing, Mellanox Technologies. “Now on our fifth generation of ConnectX RoCE adapters, our customers are able to achieve dramatic improvements in storage and compute platform efficiency and performance. Continued innovation has allowed our RoCE solutions to accelerate performance over ordinary Ethernet networks, without requiring any special configuration to operate losslessly.”

Additional RoCE Technical Resources Now Available

The RoCE Initiative partnered with Demartek, an independent computer industry analyst firm, to develop the Demartek RoCE Deployment Guide. The free guide is designed for IT managers and technical professionals who are exploring the benefits of RoCE technology and looking for practical guidance on the deployment of RoCE solutions. The technical document demonstrates step-by-step deployment of RoCE-capable 25GbE and 100GbE products by several vendors.

More information on the Demartek RoCE Deployment Guide can be found at http://www.demartek.com/Demartek_RoCE_Deployment_Guide.html.

Additionally, the RoCE Initiative recently published a white paper explaining the many benefits of RoCE capabilities and how the technology can address the ever-changing needs of next generation data centers. The document, titled RoCE Accelerates Data Center Performance, Cost Efficiency, and Scalability, features recent case studies and outlines the following RoCE advantages:

  • Freeing the CPU from Performing Storage Access
  • Altering Design Optimization
  • Future-Proofing the Data Center
  • Presenting New Opportunities for the Changing Data Center
